After a three year musical break the chanteuse is working on songs for a new album. At the Ella awards in California Whitney seemed on good form as she dined with friends including producer Clive Davis and arts philanthropist Ginny Mancini, the widow of film music composer Henry Mancini

GLOWING WHITNEY PRIMED TO MAKE HER SOUL COMEBACK

Before there was Mariah or Mary J Blige, Whitney Houston was the music world's uncontested number one soul diva. And recently the Grammy-winning singer revealed plans to get back in the recording studio.

At a music industry shindig this week Whitney seemed to be glowing with anticipation over what will be her first album in three years.

Chic in a sexy satin top and black trousers, the songstress looked in good shape for a comeback. Six songs have been lined up for her to record and music bosses are confident the material will go down a treat with fans despite her recent well-publicised troubles.

Whitney was accompanied by Clive Davis, the legendary producer who has masterminded her career since the early days. He was quick to reassure fans the new disc will stay true to her famous style rather than focus on a flashy reinvention. "Whitney is Whitney and there's nobody like her," he proclaimed. "It'll be Whitney, not somebody reaching for a current trend, that's for sure."

Clive Davis promet que le nouvel album de Whitney est en cours de réalisation, expliquant qu'ils sont en train de travailler ensemble sur des chansons et qu'ils en ont déjà choisi 6 qu'elle enregistrera.
Mais ne vous attendez pas à ce que Whitney change sa façon de travailler, elle n'écrira pas. "Whitney n'écrit pas, enfin rarement" dit Davis. "C'est un don que vous avez ou non.
J'ai vu plein d'artistes gâcher leur carrière en essayant de le faire. Ella Fitzgerald n'écrivait pas. Lena Horne non plus. Whitney est Whitney, et il n'y a personne comme elle. Ce sera Whitney."
Davis a dit qu'ils iront en studio dans quelques semaines...

le probleme c'est quel est le niveau de sa voix
il ne faut pas se faire d'illusion
on ne redeviens pas whitney houston comme ça...

Avec beaucoup de travail, du repos, plu de cocaïne, et tout et tout ... elle peut peut-être y arriver ...
