I've been a fan of Technorati for a long time now, I guess, I was a "fan" since the super mega hit "" back in 1991 (album "Inner Child"). Shanice was a hit and also one of Janet Jackson's best friend and in the video "I Love Your Smile" (see it in the comment here) she could sure dance a little à la Janet. Her sophomore album called "21" (released when she was...21! - more exatl, the album was called "21...ways to grow") was a very experimental r&b hip-hop album. I didn't really like it when it was released though the album contains an amazing ballad (very 90's) called " " (hear the podcast ) but I though the rest of the album was really too rough for me. The sound of songs like "I Like" (which was surprisingly the daring first single! My god! No wonder the album got no response wit' that song as the 1st single!) or "Ace Boon Coon" or even "Never Changing Love" were definitely too "avant-garde" in the genre of R&B by that time, it was her coming of age album, her "emancipation" album. But today, when I listen to the songs from that album, it's spectacularly "up-to-date". Then she did a lot of background vocals for singers like Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston (in her "The Preacher's Wife" album) and also sang several love theme soundtracks which actually were successful like "Saving For You Forever" (Beverly Hills Tv serie soundtrack) or the Pocahontas love theme with singer Jon Secada "If I Never knew you". Later in 1999 she released one of her best album ever simply called "Shanice" but although the first single was an amazing potential megahit, "" (see video here) only reached at #18 in the Hot 100 Billboard chart which was dissapointing. Shanice is a senior in the game. She was R&B and hip-hop before Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, etc. A little bit like Lara Fabian who will never get the success she could have for obscure reasons, Shanice was never too lucky. This is a lady of soul who can (really) sing, dance, compose and write songs, she also has a very high register (à la Carey - but not as good as Carey) and can go very low in her range. Now, with "Every Woman Dreams", here's a whole new Shanice and she probably has NOW found her style. The song is just amazing, the more you listen ot it, the more you like it. I don't know if this is gonna do well in the charts or not, but you can listen to some of her new songs on her official website and it's really good ("So Sexy!", "Every Woman dreams" are the highlights!) : [officiel website]. The first single "Every Woman Dreams" is hot. If you want to download the video, it's [here] (right click & save) [LIRE LA SUITE ... | CONTINUE READING...]

Here's the lyrics for "Don't Break My Heart"

Don't Break My Heart

baby I know you're ready for love
ya gotta be patient with me, for me
cause you're my first
I want it to be just like I dreamed

so you know why I've
been taking my time
to think about the rest of my life
and yes I want to spend it with you
hope that you're feeling baby
the same way too

(chorus)
so don't break my heart
if you do I'll cry forever
cause there's no way I could
ever get over you
not in my life time

baby there's no
no greater feeling
greater than being with you
me and you
baby I thirst
for ever single drop of your love
your love

now I hope that I'm not wasting my time
I got better things to do with my life
so I hope you plan to grow old with me
cause that's the only way
the only way
we could be

(chorus)
promise me you'll watch over me
just promise me right here and right now
oh yeah
you know my little heart breaks so easily
so baby don't let me
don't let me
don't let me down
